I love flowers, and was just thinking that life is like a garden of flowers, you get new blooms (ideas or experiences) some are big and colorful that last for a long time, and others are subtle yet beautiful and only last for a little while. But there are always new blooms coming and going, changing all the time bringing joy into our lives or saddness when they wither away. Some flowers have thorns, some are small, some are big, some keep growing and growing, and some just produce a single flower all season. My point is life is like my garden of flowers, I'm always excited to help them grow into beautiful beings :)
My newest flower in my garden is my little baby girl Danika Leilani. She came into this world on January 13th, 2012 and has been growing and growing into the cutest little flower that I've ever seen :) She keeps changing daily, smiling more, making little giggling noises, and has captured both mine and her daddy's hearts <3 She is a darling little girl and everyone tells us that she is the cutest baby they've ever seen. Her personality is growing by the minute and she is the most curious little girl who loves to look around at the world and take it all in. We are so happy to have her in our lives, it's still hard to believe that we are the parents of a happy and healthy baby girl. As my husband says "the force is strong in this one."
Now don't get me wrong, parenthood has challenged us from the beginning, and we are still getting used to it. But we are definitely getting the hang of things. Getting down routines, and learning what her needs are and what makes her happy. We've learned that she loves to be bounced, patted, walked around on tours of the house, fed, changed, talked to, and snuggled. Night time is still a struggle for us, since we still have to get up several times during the night to feed her and comfort her. She usually sleeps from midnight until 4am, sometimes 5am if we're lucky. After that she gets up every 2 hours to feed, and we change her when needed. But over all I think that we are pretty good parents, we've cared for her, kept her warm and happy and she is growing at a healthy rate.
Danika is such a sweet little girl, we love her to pieces and we can't wait to see her grow into the beautiful flower that we know she will become. As every gardener knows, it takes time, patience, love, nurturing, and lots of caring to make a beautiful flower grow.....just like a momma cares for her baby :)
These pictures were taken in February 2012, Danika was 1 month old when she got to experience her first flower :) Danika's middle name is Leilani, which means "Heavenly flower lei" in Hawaiian, I think it's unique and suites her well :) These star gazer lillies are my favorite flower (well one of many!) and they were my Valentine's day gift from my sweet Hubby :)
